Come enjoy deep powder over moderate terrain in safe areas that are known for their spectacular scenery. All ability levels are welcome and kids are welcome too but they must be prepared for a workout and they are your responsibility. We move at a leisurely pace, have great conversations, and always stop for lunch.
Sunday - Mar 17 - Burstall Loop - Senic loop with varied terrain
Meeting Place: 8:00am inside the McDonalds across from Canada Olympic Park.
Equipment: You can rent snowshoes, gaiters, and poles at MEC or the U of C.
Format: Plan for a full day out and bring a lunch, most days we will shoe for 2-4 hours.

Sweat layer - man made fabric layer works best against your skin
Double Layered Socks - two layers of man made fabric help eliminate blisters
Fleece - for both bottoms and tops are a must, get the top with a high neck
Shell - a nylon shell works great, pants that zip up the leg and jackets that have pockets for food
Head Gear - balaclava, toque, ear bands, and goggles are good to have along
Down Jacket - a must! Stuff in back pack for lunch time and emergencies
Hiking Boots - basic lightweight ones are fine, get water proof ones
Mittens - fleece mittens with an outer shell work in all kinds of weather
Back Pack - a small one works fine for your food and clothes
Water Bladder - a basic 1.5 or 2 liter bladder is fine
Gaiters - don't scrimp here, get a good pair preferably Gore-Tex
Poles - the flick lock triple folding are the best for portability
Snowshoes - rent one size larger than recommended in the store
Chocolate - bring tons!! An absolute must for your coach as he needs to fatten up for winter
Optional - GPS, helicopter, folding chair, wine, and warm friend to cuddle!
