This is a 7 month program that will teach you how to prepare effortlessly for Sprint or an Olympic distance triathlon in the summer of 2011. This holistic approach is based on our unique effortless exercise philosophy to training, nutrition, and race preparation.
The program is geared towards beginners who want to increase their fitness and improve their health using a balanced lifestyle approach to their training. The program emphasizes healthy, progressive exercise that is easily sustainable over the long term.
Schedules are provided as a guideline but we also encourage and guide you to develop your own program based on your own unique needs and goals. We’re going test everyone’s Lactate Threshold in the program so we can accurately determine your effortless training zone and give you proper heart rate training advice.
We’re looking to blend science and intuition into this program so you have the best opportunity to have success and to stay motivated and injury free.
Program Goal: To complete a Sprint or Olympic distance triathlon of your choice in the summer of 2011
Course Timetable: February 2 to August 31, 2011 - 7 months
Fee: $150 per month includes all program materials and course binder, the book Effortless Exercise, a body composition test and lactate threshold test, our Wednesday Night Brick Training, Saturday spin class and Sunday Effortless Run Club, and e-mail coaching support all year
Equipment: You’ll need a heart rate monitor, bike and trainer
Format: Small group theory sessions to maximize learning and personal attention. All theory sessions are on Wednesday evening right after the brick class from February to April
Location: Lakeview Baptist Church Gymnasium, 5336 Lakeview Drive SW, park in the rear. The runs are at various locations around Calgary and the spring summer cycles/runs are on the roads and paths in and near Calgary, please note that TFM participants get first priority into the summer open water swims!
Theory Sessions: Weekly from February to the end of April after brick class on Wednesdays there will be a formal theory session with topics ranging from nutrition to training and racing. We’ll cover all the topics pertinent to triathlon and you’ll leave the year with a binder full of information
